Amazon Case Study: Transforming Smarter Network Management in Action

Amazon Case Study

Managing distributed wireless infrastructure at enterprise scale presents unique operational challenges — especially when each location operates independently.

Errigal recently partnered with Amazon to deploy a centralized DAS monitoring platform across multiple U.S. warehouse locations, delivering real-time visibility, automated alerting, and operational scalability across a complex, distributed estate.

Below is an overview of the engagement and outcomes.

The Challenge

Amazon operates one of the world’s most sophisticated and high-performance logistics networks. Its warehouse environments rely heavily on seamless connectivity to support scanning systems, handheld devices, automation infrastructure, and real-time inventory management. Any disruption to in-building cellular coverage can have immediate operational consequences.

Historically, each warehouse managed its Distributed Antenna System (DAS) environment independently. Localised monitoring ensured basic visibility, but as Amazon’s footprint expanded, this decentralised model began to introduce operational friction.

While functional in isolation, the approach presented several challenges at scale:

  • Limited unified performance visibility across regions

  • Slower fault detection due to fragmented monitoring

  • Inconsistent operational processes between sites

  • Increased complexity as new warehouses were added

  • Reduced ability to identify systemic or recurring issues

  • Higher operational risk during peak volume periods

Without a centralised monitoring framework, performance data remained siloed. Engineering and operations teams lacked a consolidated view of network health across the estate. This made it difficult to identify trends, compare site performance, or proactively address degradation before it impacted warehouse productivity.

During high-volume activity periods — such as seasonal surges and major sales events — even minor connectivity issues could scale rapidly. The absence of unified oversight increased the risk of delayed response times and reactive troubleshooting.

Amazon required a centralised, secure, and future-ready monitoring platform capable of supporting real-time warehouse operations while scaling alongside rapid expansion. The solution needed to provide both high-level strategic visibility and granular device-level diagnostics — without introducing additional operational overhead.

The Solution

Errigal deployed a dedicated network management platform tailored specifically to Amazon’s DAS environment.

The implementation included:

  • Integration of geographically distributed warehouse locations

  • Custom dashboards aligned with warehouse-specific KPIs

  • Drill-down device-level visibility for rapid diagnostics

  • Workflow automation for structured incident management

  • Automated ticket generation with prioritization logic

  • Multi-stage testing and validation to ensure real-time alert accuracy

Amazon was onboarded onto Errigal’s secure multi-tenant platform, with interface customization to align with internal workflows, terminology, and operational processes.

The result was a centralized command layer that provided both strategic oversight and tactical troubleshooting capability.

Enterprise-Level Support & Enablement

Beyond platform deployment, Errigal delivered a structured enablement program designed to ensure long-term operational success.

This included:

  • 24/7 Level 4 and Level 5 support for advanced DAS issues

  • Targeted training enabling Amazon IT teams to manage Level 1–3 troubleshooting internally

  • Ongoing system health checks and monthly performance reviews

  • Proactive patching, upgrades, and hardware coordination

This approach provided stability, strengthened security posture, and enabled operational autonomy across the warehouse network.

The Results

The deployment delivered measurable operational improvements:

  • 49 critical sites deployed on schedule and on budget

  • Real-time DAS performance visibility at the warehouse level

  • Automated ticketing that accelerated incident response

  • Majority of incidents resolved in-house following training

  • SSO login and role-based access control implemented for enhanced security

Strategically, Amazon achieved:

  • Centralized DAS infrastructure management

  • Faster fault detection and reduced downtime

  • Lower operational risk during peak activity periods

  • A scalable platform with compliance and governance built in

Why This Matters

For organizations managing distributed DAS, WiFi, or private network infrastructure across multiple sites, centralized monitoring is no longer optional — it is foundational.

This case study demonstrates how unified visibility, intelligent automation, and structured workflows can reduce risk, improve response times, and create a scalable foundation for growth.
